About This Itinerary

It’s more than just a meal; it’s an exploration of Oman’s history through its cuisine. You’ll taste East African influences in the spicy mashak, Persian flavors in the cardamom-scented coffee, and the ancient Omani techniques used to prepare the national dish, shuwa.

A Day of Omani Flavors

8:00 AM

Traditional Omani Breakfast 🍳

Start your day with an authentic Omani breakfast. Enjoy rakhal bread (very thin flatbread) with local honey, cream cheese, and balaleet (sweet vermicelli with an omelet). Enjoy it with a cup of hot Karak tea or coffee.

11:00 AM

Coffee & Sweets ☕

Visit a specialty sweet shop. Watch these jelly-like sweets being stirred in huge copper pots over a wood fire, then savor them with coffee (cardamom-infused coffee) and premium dates.

1:30 PM

Grand Feast: Shuwa & Qabouli 🍚

The main course of the day. Savor Omani Shuwa, meat marinated in Omani spices and slow-cooked for 24 hours. It's served on a mound of Qabouli or white rice, a fragrant, spiced rice dish that is the pride of Omani cuisine. Alongside this, enjoy Qabouli Chicken, a signature Omani rice dish cooked with a blend of aromatic spices, dried lime, and fried onions for a deep, tangy flavor.

4:30 PM

Snacks 🥨

Unwind with some local favorites. Try our famous Omani bread with Omani chips and cheese, or a drizzle of honey. It's a crunchy treat that will bring back memories of yesteryear.

7:30 AM

Coastal Grills & Mishkak 🍢

Conclude your trip at a vibrant barbecue restaurant or beachside kiosk. Enjoy grilled kingfish or mishkak – skewers of marinated beef or chicken, charcoal-grilled and served with a delicious tamarind sauce and freshly baked bread.
