Departure from Muscat
Your guide will pick you up in a private 4x4. Leaving the city early allows you to beat the traffic and watch the scenery transition from the coastal plains to the towering Al Hajar mountain range.
The Police Checkpoint & Ascent
Arrive at the mandatory 4x4 checkpoint. From here, the real adventure begins as your vehicle climbs the steep, winding road. You’ll feel the temperature drop noticeably as you ascend toward the 2,000-meter plateau.
Rose Distilleries & Ancient Terraces
Explore the famous hanging gardens. Walk through the stone-built villages of Al Aqr and Al Ayn, where pomegranate and walnut trees thrive. If you visit in March or April, you’ll witness the harvest of the Damask roses and visit a traditional smoke-filled distillery to see rose water being made.
Diana’s Point
Visit the high-altitude viewpoint named after Princess Diana. This is the ultimate spot for a panoramic photo, offering a 360-degree view of the jagged canyons and the "Three Villages" perched on the cliffside.
Gourmet Lunch Break
Take time to enjoy lunch. We recommend the cliffside dining at Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar or Alila Jabal Akhdar for a premium experience with a view (lunch is excluded from the tour price and can be pre-arranged).
Short Village Hike & Falaj System
Stretch your legs with a gentle trek. Follow the ancient Falaj (water channels) through the orchards to see how mountain farmers have irrigated this vertical landscape for over a millennium.
Return Journey
Begin the scenic drive back down the mountain. The afternoon light turns the limestone cliffs into shades of gold and purple—the perfect final view before returning to sea level.
