🧭 The Legendary Balcony Walk (W6 Trail)
High Reward, Moderate Effort. This is the hike that has made Jebel Shams famous globally.
- The Path: The Balcony Walk follows a narrow ledge halfway up the canyon wall, offering jaw-dropping views into the 1,000-meter deep abyss below.
- Distance: 8 km (Round trip) | Time: 3–4 hours | Difficulty: Easy to Moderate.
- The Highlight: The abandoned stone village of As Sab. Explore ruins where families lived until the 1970s, perched precariously on the cliff edge.
- Photography Tip: Arrive at the trailhead in Al Khitaym at sunrise. The soft morning light hitting the opposite canyon wall is a professional photographer's dream.
⛰️ The Summit Trek (W4 Trail)
The Ultimate Challenge. For serious hikers, reaching the South Summit (2,997m) is the goal.
- The Experience: A grueling ascent through juniper forests and ancient boulder fields. You’ll experience a dramatic temperature drop as you climb—even in 2026, it’s not uncommon to find frost near the peak in winter!
- Distance: 20 km (Round trip) | Time: 8–10 hours | Difficulty: Hard (High fitness required).
- Our Advice: This is a long day. We recommend starting no later than 06:00 AM and carrying at least 4 liters of water per person.
